Trouble backing up my games

Hello all, new to this, forgive any quick errors, I'll be happy to provide any extra info.

I'm on 4.3U, ios236, it's in 249, base 58.

I've tried usb loader gx3.0 as .wad and from hbc (rev 21006) as well as wiiflow 3.1 -r280 ips249 b58 v60.

what I get from usb loader gx is a dump screen (EXCEPTION - DSI) when I try to install. I also never see the "x blocks free or xxxgb free" etc in the middle bottom of the screen. Regardless of format. I've used only the left/bottom USB port, alternating as appropriate for the hell of it.
USB Loader also gets the size of every game wrong if it doesn't crash: always says 0.00GB. That's gotta mean something?


While from wiiflow I get consistently different, random numbers as to what amount of blocks are free on my drive. FWIW I've used three different usb drives (one of which I know is on the supported list. other is a WD elements, another is usb stick. They all have similar behavior: sometimes -700000 blocks free, sometimes no blocks free, depending on when I reboot.

I don't believe my USB ports are bad, as I can format the drive WBFS using... some app from waninkoko.

I've formatted as WBFS, NTFS, FAT32 using the 'fat32 gui formatter' app. The drives I've used are seagate 750, wd 1tb and 2tb. I can't seem to get good behavior out of this, but at least it's all consistent.

What'd I do wrong? Any ideas would be most appreciated. I'm new to Wii modding, but I'm far from helpless, I could certainly use a good kick in the right direction.

I can add what's missing, however. Configurable USB loader appears to like me, and I'm able to construct what others' syschecks offer them:

You need to properly mod that Wii. If what you added to your syscheck is correct, you only have one cios and that one is not the most compatible base. Follow.the softmod any Wii guide and then see what happens.
