    DVD Playback

    This place is amazing.

So many good tips and so many nice citizens.

Next question. I want to play bought DVDS off my Wii. Is it possible. Went to the homebrew and got WiiMC (check me out- quite pleased with myself. Anyhow when I put in the dvd it says that DVD playback is not supported. Any advice???

    Thanks

The newer wii's are unable to play dvd's. Go here-->Wii Drive Chip Database and type your wii's serial number, and tell us what drive you have.

Nah mate. The serial is to the right of RVL-001. Mine begins with LAH. Yours will be different, that's just an example.
Anyway, all is not lost. WiiMC can play movie files(such as avi files)from USB.

I know. It's pretty amazing. Just bought a WDmedia player asweel. Topping it off would be the ability to play dvds.

    Anyhow think I got it.

    • There is a 50% chance the chipset is Combined GC2-D3 with no drive chip.
    • And there is also a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-D4 on a smaller drive board.
    • Lastly, a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-D3-2 (v2) with no drive chip

Does this make any sense to you???

I don't even consider it a con, stream my movies direct from my PC to Wii.

I do that with my Xbox. Some reason, it only works half the time when streaming to the wii. Xbox, no probs at all lol.
