Questions about NAND backup

I started softmodding my Wii years ago with info I found at wiibrew.org. Recently, I discovered this site and it has much more info. While I was able to install the homebrew channel and various emulators years ago via info at wiibrew, I read through the mauifrog softmod guide and did everything there so I could be up to date. The one part I had trouble with is the nand backup. Everything in the mauifrog guide was installed. I have priiloader, bootmii, and CFG loader booting Wii games and GC games with mios dios lite, all working 100%. But, like I said, I couldn't perform the nand backup. So, I was wondering, with priiloader installed, in the event of a partial brick, would I still be able to do a recovery? Is there a way I can still do the nand backup at this point? I feel like I overlooked a step somewhere, but I read all the guides and faqs thoroughly.

Load the hackmii installer from the HBC, and install bootmii. Thats the step you probably missed.

I appreciate your quick response. I do have bootmii installed, I think. That's the program that's accessible by pressing home at the homebrew channel then selecting bootmii, correct? Once I have that running, though, I don't know what to do. Is there and Nand backup option there? Maybe my bootmii is outdated?

Use the power and reset buttons on the wii to navigate to the icon with the gears, and select it.
Then navigate to the icon with the green arrow and select it, and then do your nand backup.

Use the power and reset buttons on the wii to navigate to the icon with the gears, and select it.
Then navigate to the icon with the green arrow and select it, and then do your nand backup.
Okay, this is where I get lost. When do I press the buttons? Which app am I supposed to use?

Load up the HBC. then when it's loaded, press home on the wiimote. You'll then see an option to launch bootmii. Do that, then follow my instructions above.

Again, I appreciate the response. When I press power while in bootmii my wii shuts off. This is what happened when I followed the mauifrog guide, too. Do I not have the right version of bootmii?

Are you holding down the power button? By just pressing power, not holding, is what navigates through the icons. Pressing reset will select the icon.
