Try to format the drive by following the fat32 guide.

Right click on my computer and click manage, assuming your in windows. Select disk management and your usb drive. Delete the current partition on it. Or give this a try
    Fat32Formatter

or any partition manager. You want one big primary fat32 partition.

Does the usb loader see the game and try to back it up? I have 3 wiis, and one has at times not recognized the wii disc when backing up while others work fine. Is that what is happening or are you getting some kind of error? In a pinch you could try this

configurable usb loader freeze the wii at 0.76% and usb loader gx just stops at 0.76% i can still move the curser but when i try to turn off the wii it freezes at a black screen and the blue light on the cd drive stays on and wiiflow says an error has occurred and does the same thing usb loader gx does when i try to turn it off it reads the game and tells me what it is so idk what is goin on and ill give that a try
