Wii won't play virtual console games

Hi, I'm a newbie to these forums. I'm having trouble with my Wii and am looking for a bit of help.

I used to live in Australia and bought a PAL Wii while I was there. I'm now living in Canada, which uses NTSC. I've got the Wii component cables to use my Wii on my NTSC TV, but it only works for Wii games, not virtual console games. So playing SSBB is fine, but I can't play Ocarina of Time. Whenever I go to load a virtual console game from the SD card the Wii becomes non-responsive and my TV says "not supported mode." Sometimes it'll make it as far as displaying "you will need a classic controller" before the screen goes black. Of course, if I use the regular cables, I can play the virtual console games loaded onto the SD card, but it's in black and white.

Any ideas on how I can get my PAL Wii to play virtual console games from the SD card on an NTSC TV?

Hello. I will be helping you, just tell me something. Do you have PriiLoader installed? If you do I can teach you how to make it region-free!
    Hope I can help!

Load wiimod v3, go into the region settings under the advanced menu. Change the video display to ntsc.

or follow the Softmod ANY wii guide and do a full region change to USA.

I've installed Homebrew and all that. So now my formerly PAL Wii is NTSC and I can open it up in colour. Great!

Problem: I can't play games from my SD card (games that I DL'd while I was back in Australia via Wii Shop channel). I get "This Channel cannot be launched on this Wii console." Any ideas?

Did you change only the video mode, or all region settings to USA?Best solution, follow the softmod any wii guide, region change the wii to USA install the 4.1u modpack and system menu. Then when your done load priiloader and enable region free system menu hack for channels, or region free all.I would think that if you only changed video display to ntsc and left the other region settings as euro you would be able to play those pal games without issue. I could be wrong.

Ok, still not working. Here's what I did:

    1) Went to HBC and loaded ARCmod06_Offline
    2) selected IOS236
    3) Installed 4.1u
    4) Set Console Area Setting: USA
    5) Set Game Region Setting: USA
    6) Set Console Video Mode: NTSC
    7) Set Shop Country Code: 49
    8) Set System Menu Region: USA

I can't get to System Menu 4.1 Installer. When I use the D pad it skips that and goes from Save Settings to System Menu Region. I had already set the system menu hack to enable region free channels. Curiously, I can't get back into Priiloader by holding reset. It just resets the console.

Could it be that the games aren't loading because they think that it's a different Wii from the one they were loaded to?

No, the wii is the same. Just the games are now out of region or the ticket is no longer installed on the wii (settings format?). Run syscheck and post the report here, we don't wan't you to have any stub ios70 on that 4.1 system. How many wiiware/vc games do you have on the sd card? Also, any custom channels run from the sd card must have a patched system ios to work.

To load priiloader turn off the wii, hold reset and turn on the wii while holding reset. Priiloader does need to be reinstalled after installing a new system menu.

Post your syscheck so we can see what you have and have not.

Ok, reinstalled priiloader, so that's why I couldn't get into it.

I also went into the IOS menu and saw that IOS70 is installed.

How do I run syscheck? Been fiddling with this for about an hour now and couldn't find it.

What if I dl'd the ModPack-PAL-E.zip and installed it, thus making the Wii a European region, and then just switching the video output to NTSC instead of PAL?

I've got 5 virtual console games. Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros 3, Sonic 1, and Super Mario Kart.
