Question My Wii can't hold anymore VC/Wiiware games

    Hi all,

I've got quite a few Wiiware/VC titles now, yet there are still more I want...

The problem is, I have the white launch Wii, which I believe has a lot less on-board hard drive space than the newer ones?

So my problem now is I can't install any more games.

I'm running version 4.0U or E... I've forgotten... Don't have the Wii with me at the moment.

How should I go about being able to get more?

Should I risk upgrading the Wii and run backups off an SD or something?

    Thanks in advance.

There is no difference in the storage space on any of the wiis (that I am aware of), they are all very limited. Wiiware/vc games can be stored on the sd card, that's how Nintendo wants you to do it if you have purchased a lot of the games. How did you manage to purchase all of those wiiware/vc titles without updating your wii?

I bought a couple of big ones, OoT, Majora's Mask and Super Mario 64 seem to take up a lot of the room, plus I have Super Metroid, and some Mario SNES games, even then I wouldn't expect it to be almost full.
Though I have around 30+ Wii games so I'm wondering if the save files could be taking up a lot of room.

Ah, I can't run VC/Wiiware titles off an SD on this version I don't think, isn't that a feature from 4.2?

Guess I'll have to upgrade and re-softmod.

    Thanks Skellinator,

I don't suppose you have a link to a guide that shows upgrading to a certain version?

If I upgrade now it'll take me straight to 4.3 won't it?

I jailbroke a long time ago... just before 4.1 came out, so I'm a bit rusty on procedures, I vaguely remember Priiloader but not even sure how to use it!

    Thanks again for your time.

EDIT: You also brought to my attention the issue of buying more titles.
Am I able to use the wii shop channel when it's softmodded?
If so do I need to do something special?
I won't even be on the latest version so is this an additional problem?

The best thing for you to do is follow the softmod any wii guide linked in my signature. Follow the instructions for wiis with HBC installed. Do the entire guide. When you finish you will be on SM 4.1 but have all of the ios and functionality of 4.3. Updating the shop channel is covered in there too, yes you will be able to use it to buy those extra games you want.
