    Wii playing Gamecube Backups

I have a black wii, and I was told it cannot play gamecube backups, but I went to the Wii Drive Data Chip- Serial number link and it says this,

Wii Drive Chip Database - Serial Number Estimation

Considering, I have been scouring various forums including this one, i have seen people with this exact finding being capable of playing gamecube Backups, am i just hoping this will work and making myself believe this will work, or can it?

If you want to be 100% sure, you'll need to try it, but it probably won't work. The serial number thing is an estimation. Estimations can be wrong.

Thanks for your reply, I did in fact try that out, with a backup of our kids mario party 9 disc, unfortunately, it did not work, i got an error (ret=-2), but yet again thank you.

I also tried that out, but many problems arose, beginning with out sd card being too small, its only a 2 gb, so i had to "find" a say Ikaruga iso and i ran it through the Discex, and it wouldnt copy to my sd card in the games folder, so that neogamma would pick it up when chosen go through DML, but yes thanks for your reply as well, they both helped to narrow down what my capabilities are.

you can close this thread, i have gathered all the information i can. As well as gotten results.
