Where is the save games stored?

    Hello.
Iv softmodded my wii by mauifrogs guide, and run all games from an Hdd.
I was wonderinf if I can take this HDD to any softmoded wii and play the games, and if the savegames also is in the hdd?
Or is the savegames saved directly in the wii?

You can play the games on any wii that has been softmodded and has all the needed cIOS installed. The savesgames can also be saved to the drive using NAND emulation, but it will need a bit of work to set-up.
Awesome sig picture does not work

So to be clear. the save games are in the wiis nand, not on the hdd with the launcher and the games.

Yes. Saves are stored on NAND and can be moved to SD using sysmenu or other places (hdd) via backup manager. But only for backup purposes, games wont use them.

Im kinda new so Im trying to understand this. So what is being said is that when I play a game on the hdd and want to save my game progress there is no way to save it to the hdd instead of the wii it self? Im asking cause i wanted a way to play a game and not have to save the progress to all that wii block stuff. Thanks for any help or info and sorry if i broke any rules or regulations on this board.

Save games save to your NAND.

There is no way to use the hard drive for savegames.

    Hope this clears it up.

In the system menu, click "wii options" and then "data management" and then "save data". Games normally save to the NAND memory chip in the wii. This data can be backed up to an sd card, but must be restored to the wii before a game can access it.

For soft modded wii's, there is such thing as NAND emulation. This is a portion of your wii's NAND memory copied and saved to an sd card or external hard drive. An app uses the files to emulate the wii and allow your to save your game data to sd card or external hard drive.

NAND emulation is another step of complication, so if you don't think you need it, your probably all set how things already are.

Usb loader gx is very easy to use the nand emulation. It will extract the nand for you and you will be able to use it the way you have in mind.

Sent with WiiHacks app, that should explain any typos 8-p

Hi Skellinator. Please elaborate, my wii is slowing down a bit when starting up etc. Maybe from all the abuse its taken....lol! I believe NAND emulation will resolve this. How do I need to go about his with Usb loader gx?
