I have an idea of what to do here based on a guide I'm reading here, but I would really like an expert to confirm all of this for me before I go through with anything.
My 4.2U Wii has the WiiKey with the latest update (1.99 Beta) which works great. Sadly, when New Super Mario Bros was around, instead of updating the chip I used the installer "PimpMyWii" to install some CIOSes.
I love booting backups from disc, but having the option to use Cover Flow in the future would be nice. From what I've read from this guide: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html I can pretty much follow Chapter 1, 2, and 3 to update the CIOSes.
Doing this should remove all of the ones I previously installed and install the latest ones, correct? Also, I've tried to update to 4.3U - I get a network error (this has happened to me before, maybe it's the wireless channel I'm using) but now I'm wondering if this was a blessing in disguise because I'm reading that this could potentially brick the Wii. If I follow chapter 1, 2, and 3 in the guide I mentioned before will I be brought up to 4.3U? Without 4.3U it seems that I can't get on the Wii Shop to download the Netflix channel
Last question - I did the "update trick" to play the Japanese SSBB and now I've got Japanese channels in addition to the English ones. Is there an easy way to get rid of these?
Thank you very much in advance. I appreciate it.
You can indeed do the softmod any wii guide. It will overwrite most, if not all of the cIOS installed by brickmywii. There is a guide to update the shop channel without needing to update the system menu. You can probably remove the japanese pannels using the system menu, or anytitledeleter.
Awesome sig picture does not work
