    Trouble with Configurable USB Loader

I just softmodded my 4.3U red Wii yesterday. I then installed d2x v6 and the CFG USB loader. I put a few wbfs games on an external HDD using Wii Backup Manager. I tried to play all of them, but none worked. Usually they freeze on the menu, but I've made it into a game in Mario Party 8 a few times before it froze.

I updated d2x to v8 and CFG from v70 to V70r15, but I still have the same problems.

I was thinking about deleting the meta.xml that I have, which is set to IOS248 that I got here and then using the Configurator to make one. Will this make a difference? Any specific settings you would recommend?

Also, when I open CFG from the HBC channel about 40% of the time it freezes on CFG's loading screen and I have to unplug the power cord from the back of the Wii.

All help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

Sounds like your HDD is going into power saving/sleep mode. Check to make sure it is disabled.

Thanks for the quick response. Any advice on how to do that? It doesn't have any sort of GUI like some externals and flash drives have to change settings. It's an old 160 GB Western Digital. I've never had an issue with sleep mode, nor did I even know it existed, when using it with my desktop.

Also, one of the games, Kirby Dreamland, has been working as of like 20 minutes ago, but it freezes when going into star portals.

Take a look at the downloads section of the WD website. You should be able to find a utility that will get you access to those settings.

Alright I'm trying out this spindown utility and I'll post my results. Are you sure that's the problem though because some games freeze immediately, but Kirby freezes only at specific points?

    Edit:
    Results

Looks like the spindown utility only lets me have it spindown when its connected to my Desktop.

That wasn't the utility that I was speaking of. Some drives have a sleep mode that causes them to spin down automatically after a certain amount of time. If you searched your model on the wd website and it doesn't say anything about it, it might not be a feature of that drive. The main reason I thought of that was because you said that sometimes you can get into a game, but then it freezes.

There are numerous causes for black screens and freezes. Take a look HERE.

Alright, I stopped using the external HDD and I am now using a flash drive and the SD card. I installed the loader pack so I now have CFG, GX, and Wiiflow. I tried running my games on all 3 and I still get black or white screens only a few minutes into playing. Usually they happen right after the main menu or when loading a new "area" of the game.

I also have Neogamma, but I haven't figured out how to use it. I'm going to go find a tutorial for it, but I'm not expecting my results to be any different.
