Wii games on HDD keep freezing

I have a red wii that I modded with letterbomb. Recently the games just started crashing after playing for a few mins. GCN works through DML just fine and Wiiware and VC games work fine. Game discs work fine too. Just Wii games through USB HDD. Tried USB Loader GX and Neogamma. Tried remodding it using the Softmod ANY Wii guide on this site. Still have the same issue. I already made sure the HDD inactivity standby is disabled still and watching videos from HDD through WiiMC works fine, so I don't think it's a HDD issue. Not sure though. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Thanks.

My Wii is black and i have the same problems. USB CONFIG LOADER seems to work best for me for the wii games. I've had troubles with my games on wiiflow and GX too. I believe I've covered all trouble shooting and i cant seem to get a couple of my games to run smooth. I know they run because i have had them working fine on a mod chipped wii. So if anyone else can give us a reason why that would be greatly appreciated.
I believe this is my first post , so i would like to thank all the Dev's for they're great work, keep it up.
    Cheers

    good night
I have a wii 4.3 white unlocked and it worked well for 3 or 4 months, now began to block (freezes) many times. Sometimes at startup, sometimes 2 or 3 minutes after you start a game. I can only turn off by pressing the power button for 4 seconds. I already did the wii and I cleaned all resert the sofmod, after I install system menu 4.3 original and continues on the same.
to resolve the problem and who need: how much will my questing solved the problem with a usb disk emulated nand and scrolls the 100%. that I used to (modmii) no more freezes so far.
    I hope I have helped.

I think everyone here, needs to take a look at the blackscreens and freezes guide. Link is in the spoiler below.

I already have. I also tried every step on the list for usb loading as well as starting from scratch softmodding my Wii with the guide on this site. Still having the same issue. Is there anything else I can try? Thanks.

I also have the same problem.
I softmodded my friend's (black) Wii according to the recommended tutorial just a week ago.
Then we bought a 1TB Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex USB 3.0 + USB 2.0 and I followed the instructions to set a FAT32 partition.
I transfered the games from my WBFS partition (another HDD) to the FAT32 partition newly created.

    Everything worked.
But then, within a few minutes of gameplay, the game just freezes.
The ones I've tested so far were Red Steel 2 and Donkey Kong Country Returns.

As for Red Steel 2: In the middle of the game suddenly a black screen appears with the following message: Game Disc loading...
As for Donkey Kong Country: Usually in the end of some stage while the score screen is running suddenly the game freezes and shows only DK looking at you without loading any further.

I'm clueless because I have not seen many errors like that. Actually this thread is the first one I found someone with the exact same issue that I currently have.
And it's not the HDD because I've tested on my White Wii and it doesn't freeze at all.

I'm still working to fix it.

    Looking forward to replies.
    Thanks.

Make sure your drive is primary and set to active. Also could be a bad dump. Rerip the game from the original disc, with no scratches.

First of all, thanks for your reply.
I followed your instructions and set the drive to primary and active, but I'm still getting the same errors though. :-/

The real mystery is that this HDD works fine with my white Wii. What does this means? I believe the only difference between the two Wii's is the system (black: v4.3U - white: v4.1U).
And I read somewhere in the tutorial that this fact doesn't change anything in gameplay.
I'm all out of ideas and it's frustrating.
Should I believe the black Wii and this drive are incompatible?
