Homebrew Channel Ruinned By Black OPS

Hi Everyone

I am a newbie so I'd like to apologise up front if I have posted in the wrong section or I am asking something that has already been asked. I did search the forums for my problem but didn't find it.

A little bit of background. A friend of a friend Soft Modded my Wii so I am not too sure what versions of what I have. I can state my Wii Menu version is 4.1E. The Configurable USB Loader does NOT say GX on it.

Everything was working wonderfully. I was able to play games from a WD USB HDD. Until yesterday. Yesterday, I bought my son the Call of Duty Black OPS Game (original). As soon as he inserted the disk, the Disk Channel asked for a System Update. Having told him not to update anything, he called me and we removed the disk. We inserted an older game and it works. We then tried to play a game from our HDD. To our horror, the Homebrew Channel suddenly has an error :(. The error says :

"Error!
Customer IOS 249 Is A Stub.
Please Reinstall It"

I can confirm that no Wi-Fi network has been configured on the Wii so there is absolutely no way the Wii downloaded anything from the web. The only thing I can think of is the Black OPS Game. It looks like the game has corrupted something.

Now for my question. Can someone, PLEASE, tell me how to recover from this ?

heyy man, ok so i see what u said and i wanna say couple words too so firstly with usb loader: U said your usb loader doesn't say gx well its not meant to because it is configurable Usb Loader and the one thats meant to say gx is : USB LOADER GX a completely different loader but the one that u have is better. now 4 ur wii replace ur: ios 249, ios 250, mios 222, ios 224 ok then the question is: how do i do that?? (since ur new to this stuff)
Answer is: ahm ahm,, u take ur SD card out plug it in you computer (if ur computer has no sd port go buy one from shops) go to internet search each one of the ios's i've listed then put where ur other ios's r (they might be in "wads" folder or in the "root" of your sd card) replace them with these new ios's then try
only if this works
put your call of duty in disk channel say no to the update. leave the disk in and start homebrew channel then go in to ur cfg (configurable) usb loader and install the game then click on the game go to options and change ios to 250 then click play and it will work
only if the cod doesn't work
download the game from internet and put it in ur hdd though wbfs manager or wii backup manager then play (change the ios to 250)

Hey Warrior1996. Thank you for the extremely quick reply. I knew I would be able to get help here. Even though I am a newbie, your instructions are pretty easy to follow. I'll try that over the weekend and post my results on Monday. My only concern is that you said "take ur SD card out". My Wii doesn't have one. I believe all my files etc. are on my WD Passport USB HDD. Will that still work ?

hey buddy, no need to worry your wii can be fixed back to it's hackable state ^_^ to answer your question, yes your hard drive will work.

to make your life easier, I uploaded 2 files for you. one titled IOS249[56]-v7.wad and one titled IOS250[57]-v7.wad These files are called cIOSes

IOS249[56]-v7.wad - IOS249 is the the slot for this custom IOS. [56] is the base IOS which is compatible for most games. v7 means that it's v7 of the d2x cios (google search to learn ore about that if you want)
IOS250[57]-v7.wad IOS250 here is the slot for this one. [57] is the base IOS which should be compatible for games like COD black ops. v7 is also what i posted above this

download the file, put them on your hard drive, go to your wii, and install the wads using a wad manager. You might still have a wad manager leftover from whatever tutorial you followed to softmod your wii.

edit2...also, to prevent further accidental "updates" which only stub your IOS with useless ones, install priiloader and enable "block disc updates" and "block online updates" in the hacks menu http://code.google.com/p/priiloader/...7.zip&can=2&q=

Hey Shano56. Thank you so much for this. Now can I ask another noob question, if there is no WAD Manager, what do I install ? And more importantly, HOW do I install ? This friend of a friend who did all this originally took it to his home so I wasn't able to see exactly what he did and how he did it. The same installation question applies to PriiLoader. How do I install it ? Please accept my apology for asking what may seem like stupid questions. I appreciate your help (and that of Warior1996) thus far. Cheers.

Hey Man. One more question, I read somewhere that IOS250 allows me to play BlackOPS. Is this correct ? Do I need to do anything extra to make BlackOPS work ? We have a copy of this game on the HDD and own the Disk as well. The disk is the culprit in getting us into so much trouble in the first place. If IOS250 will allow us to play BlackOPS (without doing anything more) then I guess we can "archive" our disk for good (or at least until we need it again).

cIOS 250[57] should work for black ops.

There's a guide on this site, you should have checked that first lol - it explain what cIOSs are needed.

TO INSTALL WADS:

Get a wad manager such as Multi mod manager and place it in the /apps folder on your HDD. Then put your wad files (in this case cIOS 250) somewhere on your HDD and plug it into your wii. Start up MMM, then click install wad and select your wad. Install it and you should be fine!

EDIT: And don't forget to load into cIOS 250 before you play the game.

again, IOS250 is just a slot or a placeholder for a custom ios. It is generally recommended that the custom ios here is based on 57. Yes black ops will work with such a configuraiton. download this: Multi-Mod-Manager_v13.4.zip

Extract it
Put the folder labeled "MMM" on your hard drive in the folder labled "apps" so it looks like harddrive/apps/MMM

put the wad files I showed you earlier on your hard drive in a folder labeled "wad" so it looks like harddrive/wad/<files i gave u>

plug your hard drive in your wii
open homebrew channel
load Multi-Mod Manager
click the Install wad option
install the two files that should show up

let me know how that goes. the last few steps were from memory so the interface in MMM might be a little difference

Hey isoguy. You are 100% correct. However, when one is in a panic mode, one does not think clearly. Thank you for your help. From the help provided by Warior1996, Shano56 and yourself, it is now clear that I panicked for nothing. My situation is recoverable. Another confusion I was getting into was the "installation" of WAD Manager/PriiLoader vs. "Running" it from my HDD. I am going to give this a go this weekend. Hopefully it all works. No one talked about removing the stubbed IOS's so I'll leave it like that and just re-install as Shano56 suggested.

A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE. I think I am now confident enough to give it a try.

Shano56 has given you a link to two cIOSs. Install both of them - cIOS 250 is for you to play black ops and cIOS 249 is a non-stubbed cIOS. When you install 249, it will overwrite your stubbed cIOS, leaving you with a working version of cIOS 249 :D
