How to Fix a Banner Brick (I think) Using Priiloader?

Hi all. Hopefully you can help me out.

Here is my issue: I can power up Wii with no problems. It will go through the health screen and then show all my channels. If I then choose a channel with the A button, it goes to black and freezes.

This happened when I installed PriiLoader v0.3b. All worked well until that. (actually, my son installed it by mistake. I am not sure what he was doing, but he used an old SD card and then installed it. Oh well. Things happen when you have three young boys!)

EDIT: I think the meta.xml file was loaded and caused the issue

Luckily, I can access PriiLoader by holding down the reset button when powering up. I can therefore access the white-screen Priiloader utility.

The thing is, I don't know what to do next. I am assuming I should be installing a file of some sort to get things working, but I am not sure what to install. I don't mind if it goes back to a virgin Wii, since I can start fresh. I just don't want to damage things any more.

My system is version 4.2 (North America).

Thank you for any suggestions you can give me.

Make sure the only hacks enabled in priiloader are block disc update check and block system updates, all others should be disabled.

First off, I think this is in the wrong forum. Sorry! It should be in the Home Brew issues thread.

Anyway, I just checked the priiloader system hacks, and I only have one of the hacks you mention (the block disc updates). Here are the others that I have:

Replace health screen with back menu
auto press A at health screen
    block disc updates
    no system menu background music
no system menu sounds at all
    move disc channel
remove no copy save file protection
recovery mode press right on gc pad
    region free wii games
    region free channels
    remove no copy protection

    That's all of them.

I should also mention that the disk channel doesn't recognize when a disc is put into the wii. The channels are all there, but none of them will work. Black screen no matter what I choose.

EDIT: I just tried the maintenance mode and I am able to access the HBC from there. What steps should I take next?

Still sounds like one of those weird priiloader hacks.... You should probably just follow the Softmad ANY Wii guide. It will update priiloader to the latest version and fix anything else that may have gone awry. If priiloader was "accidentally" installed, chances are something else was "accidentally" messed up.

I was just looking for the guide when I noticed your reply! I guess starting from scratch is the best.

I am still not 100% sure what was added. I am just figuring it out based on what my kid was saying. The things I have listed are the only things that I can see on that SD card that could be loaded up. Maybe it is unrelated.

Oh well. I will let you know how the remod works.

    Thanks for your help.

OK. All is well! I followed the Mod Any Wii guide and I am back up and running.

Earlier, I was trying to get VC games on my USB drive and had no success. My son decided to give it a shot and uploaded a few things. He didn't want to tell me because he thought I would be upset! At least he told me. Now the mystery is solved.

    Thanks for your help.
