help with choosing which softmod and loaders etc to use.

hello!!

I'm new to modding and find it a bit difficult to choose between all the guides and options. because I'm such a n00b I'm having a more technically talented friend come over and help me with the modding. He didn't seem to happy about it though so I wish I would know exactly which procedures to do so I can have it over in reasonable amount of time.

I have: black wii 4.3 pal, sandisk 2gb sd card, 320gb verbatim usb hdd (compatible).

I would like to: easily be able to play my backed up wii games as well as virtual console, wiiware and gamecube games from the usb hdd. (a couple of my wii games are imports and I havent been able to play them at all yet, this is one of the reasons for modding as well..)

so my question is how should I mod and what should I install? is there some way to load all these games from the same place? if there isn't what's the best way according to my needs?

I like USB loader gx to make my backups from my games, easier to use it seems, all you do is press plus on the left. After you copy wiiflow is nice because it has pretty cover art and display for the games. all the loaders will work though assuming you have them installed correctly

Start by following the Softmod ANY Wii guide (link in my sig). You'll also want to have a look at the FAT32 guide (link also in my sig) for instructions on setting up your HDD.

To play backed up Wii games, you will need a USB loader. WiiFlow, Configurable USB Loader, and USB Loader GX are the Big Three and all have excellent game compatibility. I prefer WiiFlow. To play VC/WW games from your HDD, you'll need to look into NAND emulation. WiiFlow does this. There are others, but I am not very familiar with them. As for GC games from an HDD, you would either need a WODE or a SunDriver (those are hordmods), or via Swiss using an IDE-EXE adapter (not a hardmod). The adapters are a little hard to come by though. You could play them from an SD card. Swiss also does this (via an SD Gecko or WiiKey SD Card Adapter), or through the front SD slot with the latest version of WiiFlow, NeoGamma, or PostLoader.

Your best bet to do everything form one app is probably the latest version of WiiFlow, which you can find here. Feel free to explore your other options, though.
