Tanker with $200 million in oil hijacked

Not related to the wii or games but I feel it is important. According to msnbc "Suspected Somali pirates captured a U.S.-bound tanker carrying around $200 million worth of crude oil in the Indian Ocean on Wednesday in one of the biggest hijackings in the area so far. "
The link is Tanker with $200 million in oil hijacked - World news - Mideast/N. Africa - msnbc.com. I am guessing we can expect higher gasoline prices in the U.S. In my politics class this was a hot topic today before this even came out. What are your guy's feelings on the rapid rise of piracy coming out of somalia and the areas around it? (note, not electronic piracy).

I am not sure, piracy is on the rise their though the attacks this year are around two a day at minimum it has gone crazy. But accoridng to national treaties no nation can invade somalia because this is happening in the waters not on land to do so would go against all other nations. What they can do though is attack vessels that are in rout to hijack ships. They can't even stop pirates that just sit in little fishing boats out on the red sea waiting for a ship to come by to hijack they have to catch them in the act.

Finally...A story about real piracy! Africa is one of those volatile hot spots I would not want to visit. As far as gas prices we're all screwed. Not to sound old with one of those "I remember when gas was a nickel!" stories but I started driving under $20 would last you a week and now I spend at least $10 a day minimum. I don't drive that far and my car is fairly fuel economic getting at least 20 MPG at it's worst. NY is also one of the most expensive states when it comes to gas...Us and California.

Dont worry I commute to college everyday but its only about 5 miles, but my car has a v-8 and sucks gas like no tom. I am lucky to get 15 mpg and I only work once a week, when I first started driving it was under at least two dollars.

Edit: Check this out its a live map of pirate attacks in 2011 already you can even look at past years. http://www.icc-ccs.org/home/piracy-r...iracy-map-2010.
