Court denies Sony's attempt to get IP logs.

US district courts have denied Sony's request for expedited discovery. This means that Sony will not be allowed to send out it's various subpoenas, one of which demanded the IP addresses of all Youtube users who commented on a specific video. Since Sony's movement was denied in it's entirety, this also means that Sony will not be getting the personal contact information for various members of team fail0verflow, which was also included in the nine-part request.

This seem to be a movement in the favor of privacy, as Sony would be allowed to collect information from potentially thousands of people who simply commented on a youtube video before it's removal.

I didn't think it would fly. It's not like Sony is the government and can use the ridiculous Patriot Act.

Sony's next move - pay off the lawmakers, get new laws made, and do what ever they want.

Youtube should sue Sony, for what, I don't know, but it sure sounds good.

Sony is ridiculous, have you ever tried to backup a brand new sony movie? I have and it's not easy until my movie backup tool gets updated, then it's just like any other movie. They spend ridiculous amounts of money on encryptions. Sony once included a virus on music CD's that would infect a computer. But people keep buying sony junk.

Makes me glad I have never bought a sony gaming system.

It is so hard to boycott Sony though. They are huge! Video game wise they get some top notch first and third party titles. Electronics wise there products are amongst the best. They always have trier hands on major movies and artists. Their distribution networks are endless. They are truly a giant that can't be stopped.

Which is why they are able to get farther on this kind of stuff than any other company because they are so big.
