Survey: Gamers More Dangerous Drivers Than Non-Gamers?

Survey: Gamers More Dangerous Drivers Than Non-Gamers?

Video gamers are more dangerous behind the wheel than non-gamers, according to a study carried out by tire manufacturer Continental Tires.

The study, as reported by Jalopnik, asked 2,000 motorists between the ages of 17 and 39 -- half gamers, half non-gamers -- about their regular driving habits.

The results found that gamers believe they take higher risks than non-gamers while driving. Yet, of those gamers questioned, many thought that they were still more skilled drivers than non-gamers.

It was found that 44 percent of the quizzed gamers thought they took risks while driving, compared to 21% for non-gamers.

In comparison, 45 percent of gamers admitted to suffering from road rage, while only 22% of non-gamers did.

Perhaps most striking of all, 26 percent of gamers said that they believed their driving scares other people, compared to 11 oercent for non-gamers.

Tim Bailey, safety expert at Continental Tires, said of the study: "It seems that while gamers develop useful skills and are more confident, they need to apply some balance with a sensible assessment of risk."

Hmm that is a very interesting article I myself have always been a gamer and have never been in an accident that I have caused but I have managed to be hit by every non-gaming person in my highschool! When school was out it looked like mario kart I swear someone had a leader shell.

    That is True.
I had somebody break into my Jeep. They "tried" to take my System.

LOL. Gamers need to start realizing that video games don't equate to real life talents. Like those douches that have mastered playing Guitar Hero and can play Through the Fire and Flames on expert so they think they are some sort of guitar god. But then they pick up a real guitar and can't even play a four power chord Ramones song.

I think they go to far with these surveys.

They should ask and check to see who out of both groups had more Accidents.

Jax- My buddy has a jeep wrangler with soft everything. We sneak into his vechicle through the zipper windows and wait for him to get in and scare crap out of im, they dont seem very secure.

Darkcide- I totally agree about people who think they are all that, my buddy has a vioce like a broken violen but still he thinks since he can sing on rockband it gives him rights to fling his not so golden voice around the house. There have been times I have had my pillow above his head while he sleeps but I just cant do it lol.
