Amazing Fanmade Video for old-school Sonic fans!

Okay I'm not one to swoon, but Sonic has held a special place in my heart since the first time I laid eyes on the sneaker wearing spikester.

This is a fanmade recreation of Mushroom Hill Zone from Sonic & Knuckles for the Sega Genesis. After watching it all I can think is, "Why ain't THIS the new Sonic game we're waiting for on Wiiware later this year?"

    Check it out.

Mushroom Hill Zone from Sonic & Knuckles recreated in widescreen 3D. As others have pointed out, this is just a video, and not a playable game. It was animated over an actual gameplay video of S&K that I recorded. It was designed as a graphical demo to see how well classic Sonic gameplay and level design would adapt to 2.5D.

This was made over the course of about 2-3 weeks from scratch inbetween other work (excluding render times, which were fairly short anyway).

Created with 3DS Max and composited in Adobe After Effects.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback! (both positive and negative, it's all useful
Edit: Just found this. Apparently Sega has taken notice of this video and, just like everyone else, they love it.

    THAT Mushroom Hill Video
We’ve seen it for the love of Tikal, we’ve seen it!

Honestly, I’ve been bombarded with all sorts of messages some very excited, some downright rude, telling “SEGA” in no uncertain terms about the video. Truth is we saw it hours ago and think it looks absolutely awesome.

Sadly for some of you the video is indeed that, a rendered fan video animated over the top of the original game footage, no not even a fangame I’m afraid. Still very nice indeed. Sonic Stadium seem on the ball with finding out all the details so I’d recommend there for further information.

I completely agree robgee789. The amount of detail put into this video is astounding for a fanmade project. I compared it to some video of the actual level and it makes me a little jealous, and a little sad inside.
