    MORE INFO::::::

Netflix has started to ship the discs required to stream over the Wii to some of its customers, the company announced Thursday.

Netflix is sending the discs to only a small group of people and will use their feedback to "ensure that we deliver a great experience to everyone when we launch," marketing exec Jessie Becker said in a blog post.

Any Netflix member with an unlimited plan for $8.99 per month or higher, a broadband connection, and a Wii console will be able to access the service at launch. To sign up, reserve a copy of the Wii disc online, and Netflix will send you an e-mail once it launches.

Netflix first announced plans for streaming on the Wii in January. The company said at the time that it was planning for a spring launch.
Netflix started streaming to the Sony PlayStation 3 late last year, which also required users to use a special disc for access.

For those who can't wait, one option is PlayOn. In February, PCMag Editor Lance Ulanoff tested PlayOn, a software app from MediaMall Technologies that lets you deliver Internet and desktop-based content to your networked DLNA-ready devices. It launched a beta version that supported the Wii earlier this year, and while Lance was able to get it hooked up, the service maxed out at a resolution of 480p on his 52-inch LCD TV.

    Saw this on a blog:
    Shawn’s Super Quick Netflix Wii-view
    Shawn’s Super Quick Netflix Wii-view

Got my disk in the mail, and thought I’d stop home at lunch to try it out. Here are my thoughts, shot out into quick bullets:

    * The interface is the best Netflix interface I’ve used yet. It’s easy to navigate your queue, similar titles, recent additions to the streaming library, etc.
    * Activating your Wii is painless, and done online. (Like the PS3 and Roku) No need to try typing your email address and password into the Wii.
    * For those of you that have a hacked Wii with a USB drive for storing games — good news, the Netflix disk rips quickly, and runs from USB with no problems whatsoever.

So basically, I have a Netflix disk for a Wii if anyone wants to use it. AND, I suspect you’ll be able to download the Netflix Wii ISO from nefarious sites everywhere shortly. Heck, if you twist my arm I might rip it myself. (But I’ll never admit it online, because that would be RONG. )

And now? Back to work… ttfn

    Sweet.

I DONT PERSONALLY HAVE THE DISC, ALL THE ABOVE TEXT IS FROM Shawn’s Super Quick Netflix Wii-view

This scared me too. So I ripped the disk with usbloader and it works GREAT!

Like a previous post said, the interface is beautiful. The quality is as good as can be expected for SD quality content. I looks OK on my 46" via component video cables.

Well no dice so far...running 4.0U, the disc wants to force an update. Extracted and ran via USBloader and all I can get is a blue screen with Error #002 which tell me to remove the disc and reboot.

I'm running 4.2 with with a softmod and USB HDD. I was not prompted for an update. Netflix works great, and so do all my hacks. I ripped this disc with WiiFlow and it works great. I also rebooted to make sure everything still works and still no problems.

I can now confirm that if you are on 4.2 with a softmod you should have no problems.
