So it looks like Nintendo was on top with the purchasing of MEMS Chips for their equipment....

The video-game maker increased its MEMS spending by 12% to $108 million, topping Samsung, which spent $105 million in 2009 and had been the biggest buyer for years, according to researcher iSuppli Corp.

Nintendo, which had been the No. 2 buyer of MEMS in consumer electronics in 2007 and 2008, increased its purchases of sensors used for measuring orientation for its use in Wii Motion Plus expansion devices for the popular game console. Motion Plus helps the video game accurately record complex motions.

Despite "deep cuts" in consumer-electronic spending in 2009, iSuppli said the market for MEMS used in consumer electronics and cell phones grew 7.6% to $1.19 billion. ISuppli forecast 18% annual growth for the MEMS industry for the 2008- 2013 period.

Rounding out the top five buyers of MEMS in 2009 were Nokia Corp. (NOK) in third place, LG Electronics  Inc. (066570.SE) in fourth and Apple Inc. (AAPL) in fifth.

American depositary shares of Nintendo were up 1.2% in recent trading to $ 37.45. The stock has gained 27% so far this year. (nasdaq)
