    ★ Custom IOSX Rev18 Released by Waninkoko ★

    This page will no longer be updated. Instead go HERE.

    ==============================================

    Here is the official release of cIOS 'X' Rev18. Unlike previous installments, Rev18 will support various IOS as base (selectable during installation): IOS37, IOS38, IOS57, IOS60 and IOS70.

    LOTS of changes in this revision, so if you're still new to softmodding wait for positive feedback before updating.

    Here are some of the claims Waninkoko has made about rev18:
    • "It's ... the BIGGEST update ever (almost everything got changed)."
    • "FAT support in USB/SD loader working."
    • "SNEEK works in rev18 (confirmed)"
    • "rev18 will have the ability to load custom modules externally (although it includes built-in modules)."

    Let the testing commence...

    -----------------------
    Base WADs Possible Uses (Credit to det1re):
    IOS37-64-v3869.wad -> probably for games with instruments.
    IOS38-64-v3867.wad -> used for ages and pretty stable.
    IOS57-64-v5661.wad -> first that has updated modules "OHCI0 USB USB_HID USB_HUB USB_MSC USB_VEN ETH".
    IOS60-64-v6174.wad -> better network code / ?? The Conduit ??
    IOS70-64-v6687.wad -> better network code / ?? The Conduit ??

    Reported Issues
    ===============
    I decided to clean up this post a little. For all reported issues scroll down or click here.

    Waninkoko added this about rev18:
    1) For WAD Manager I recommed to use cIOS with IOS38 base (security issues).
    2) Some USB loaders needs to be modified to work with rev18.
    3) EHCI module device name was renamed. This change breaks compatibility with
    old loaders but it was necessary and it's easy to fix. Any IOS should work with USB
    Loader. If a loader doesn't work, it needs to be modified to work with rev18.

    Is this going to mean we don't need Hermes CIOS anymore ?

    It doesn't really mean anything yet. This release still needs to be tested a lot. But if usb peripherals do end up working well it would go a long way towards making Wanin's cIOS more universally compatible.

    Yeah it's better I don't really play the Guitar Hero games as I don't have the peripherals for them but if I ever bought one of them it would be good to be able to install it onto the hard drive. for convenience I tend to stick to Waninkoko's for near most every game I've bought except Smash Bros

    I did a network install of rev18 like this
    base 57 - usb loader CFG locks up on booting
    base 38 - usb loader CFG locks up on booting

    I then reverted back to cIOS38 rev17, network install, and usb loader CFG does not lock up on booting, works fine.
    Perhaps my forwarder is not compatible with rev18.

    I'll add it to the bug list. If it locks up from HBC also then it's probably with the dol. Was reading on gbatemp while the server was down. There's some problems running 54b on rev18 I guess?

    I did some more testing

    IOS38 as a base
    USB Loader GX r883 .dol works
    USB Loader CFG v52Bx2 .dol don't work
    Wii64 Beta 1.1 (honey) .dol works
    I did't test any games on these 3 loaders

    IOS37 as a base
    USB Loader GX r883 .dol works
    --GH5 and Band Hero boots fine with IOS249 base of IOS37
    USB Loader CFG v52Bx2 .dol don't work
    Wii64 Beta 1.1 (honey) .dol works
    SNES9x GX v4.1.5 .dol works
    I did not test any games on these loaders except the two games with GX

    EDIT - more testing

    IOS57 as a base
    USB Loader GX r883 .dol works
    --GH5 and Band Hero does not boot with IOS249 base of IOS57
    USB Loader CFG v52Bx2 .dol didn't even bother testing
    Wii64 Beta 1.1 (honey) .dol works
    SNES9x GX v4.1.5 .dol works
    I did not test any games on these loaders except the two games with GX
