    Crytek Praises Wii U Specs

The graphical powerhouse-loving studio seem very happy with the latest Wii U dev kits...
Crytek have probably always been best known for their ability to push graphical boundaries in games, so it's curious that the studio has been one of the most vociferous advocates of Nintendo's new console.
Speaking to Games Industry, Crytek's Avni Yerli gave the latest on where his studio stood with Wii U.
"The specs are very good. It's a challenge for designers, but once thought through it can add value, and that's what ultimately important. Our guys in Nottingham, they are very happy with their tests on the dev kits and they're excited about it."
Yerli's words signal developers getting hands-on with new Wii U development kits; seemingly a markedly step-up from the ones circulating around E3.
What is perhaps most interesting is the mention of Nottingham's Crytek UK having the latest dev kits. TimeSplitters 4 anyone?

It is a great advancement compared to the original Wii, but these specs don't seem to be much to gawk about.

I the original Wii had these specs, it would be a very different story. Honestly, I think the Wii should have been closer to this, then we wouldn't see much games in the Virtual Console, or Wii titles for that matter that compare to mobile freeware and games that cost a few dollars. Instead we would have probably seen some more successful ports. Well that and the akward controls are to blame. Anyone remember the interview with Rockstar referring to the Wii remote feeling like an unnatural control scheme? What about all those dumbed down ports with an akwardy tacked in control system?

The Wii wasn't bad, though. But the Wii U specualations seem to be what the original should have met. Or almost.

Exactly. its more like ps3.5 than a ps4 in terms of graphics. the ps3 graphics card it was based on came out in 2006.. so if you look at it as far as how new the gpu is... the gpu will be about 4 years old by the time the wii u comes out... the wiis graphics card was about 6 years old when it came out.. this seems like a pattern of behavior they plan on sticking with.

IDK!!! If i were nintendo i would put the price point @ lets say $400 (because you know people will pay for it) and then build around that... MAXING out the GPU and CPU and RAM and then worry about everything else... What i see from nintendo is they are SO focused on the accessories for the concole and such... Who cares about 9,234 (lol) accessories make a decent console and then you can worry about those later... Because gamers are not interested in the "o look at my motion conrollers" its "Look dude - those graphics look amazing on 110inch screen" HAHAHAHA

so true!i already have an hp touchpad.it looks like that controller will cost a significant percentage of the overall system/ controller paackage. this only leaves 150-250 to work on a console and 250 is being generous.
