GameCube to USB adapter for Wii U coming

A friend of mine posted this on facebook stating "so this is a thing ..."

I forgot that the Wii U had front-facing USB ports.

Would be nice if it had Memory card ports and an adapter for Gamecube discs to enable full backward compatibility.

I wonder if this will work natively with Devolution and everything in vWii that supports gamecube controllers....that would be cool and probably enough for me to pack up the Wii finally and just have the Wii U as it's full replacement in the living room.

Just what I was thinking!! If this can work with Devolution, USB Loader GX, and other vWii homebrew then that would be phenomenal!!

Well, there was a story a few days back that PDP is making GCN controllers that'll plug directly into the WiiMote so anything is possible.

Also it looks like Nintendo will be manufacturing GCN controllers again. At least I'm basing that on this pic that shows a controller with a Smash Bros. logo on it. Unless it's an old controller? If they were to go through the trouble to remanufacture GCN controllers, then they should go all the way with it and add clickable sticks and another left shoulder button.

    2 words:

    Code:
    WaveBird 2.0
Ok, 2 words if you consider the one space, or 5 words if you speak it out loud, but you get the idea.

Those would be like classic controllers to the console though....would they support the analog triggers? I still havent finished Super Mario Sunshine and the triggers are kind of important to that game.

I will probably get this adapter assuming it is native Gamecube controller support for vWii. It would finally enable me to put the Wii away and have my Wii U be my one Nintendo console to rule them all.

I'm not entirely sure on all the details of it. I would hope they would have analog shoulder buttons, but you never know. As for this adapter it should support vWii, but who can say for sure? The vWii (and even the old Wii) as far as I know don't take USB controllers (save for when using Devolution which can read PS3 cons from USB). So right now if that thing will work on vWii, really only Nintendo knows.

Well hopefully if it doesn't work on vWii natively at least Devolution will add support for it.

I wonder if Mario Kart 8 will support it or Virtual Console......I really hope it is just a system wide natively recognized controller. I guess all that is confirmed is that it works with the new Smash bros. at this point
