Some scary news for Wii U owners.

It seems that if you violate Nintendo's terms of service they will not sit back and shrug, here's an article with some details:

Nintendo Banning eShop Users for ToS violations

It isn't just Wii U owners. The article shows the users breaking ToS on a 3DS sale, which caused that account to close.

Yup, but reading between the lines this shows that it's theoretically possible for them to do something to your Wii U if they detect you're violating their ToS.

If I spelled something wrong, I'll just blame it on auto-correct

Very true. Though in this case, it was something that the user did on her own : redeemed two rewards on the same account.

I agree they can likely do much more than that, but a little common sense and being careful still doesn't hurt.

Huh... This is indeed a twist that I hoped wouldn't happen. Talk about jabbing it in the nads of any potential homebrew on the horizon. Honestly though it makes me wonder why N didn't just wipe the HBC in Wii mode. Its not like they couldn't figure out the title ID with a simple Google search. There has to be some reason why they left it...

I don't really understand why they care about the homebrew scene anyway. The only thing they should be concerned with is piracy, which I believe is actually the minority in the modding scene. The ability to extend functionality is only helping the sales of their hardware. It just seems more like what I like to call the Apple Complex AKA Steve Jobs Complex: "This is the way it is and you can just deal with it."
