I'm waiting till my warranty is up. All these big updates and still no negative effects on vWii Softmods is a very good sign. I look forward to playing GameCube on my GamePad

If I spelled something wrong, I'll just blame it on auto-correct

Yeah, hopefully the gamepad buttons will be supported somehow by that point. I have till February.

Although if tueidj didn't put in devolution already I have to wonder if it's possible. The gamepad uses a modified Wifi type of connection to communicate with the WiiU I believe, not Bluetooth like everything else. That may cause diffculies supporting it as a controller......

By the way it is pretty good how they implemented the pointer. You don't need to point straight at the screen like you do on the TV so much, it's more like a 45 degree angle. It makes it easier since I put the screen on a stand on the table I am naturally holding the controller much lower than the screen. The only thing I have to watch for is the console sensor bar causing the pointer to get confused. I played some Galaxy 2 while the kids were watching TV the other day and the cursor was working great to grab star bits.

Now someone needs to develop 3DS emulator so we can use the game pad!

You'll probably be waiting a long time for that. Even PCs can't play 3DS games right now.

The only thing that bugs me about the feature, is that if I try to go to Wii mode while my wife is watching TV, it won't do it, it requires that the Wii U menu is displayed on the TV first. I'm sure that's not the case for a non HDMI connection (since the Wii U would have no way of knowing if it's being displayed on the TV or not), but it's a little odd that it's required :/

Hold B when powering on, it goes straight to Wii mode.

Right, but when I try that (or even boot it normally then blindly use the Wii remote to start the vWii), I get a message that says Wii mode cannot be started, and that the Wii U menu must be displayed on the TV first. I don't remember what it says verbatim right now, but that's the gist of it. It has two buttons as well, Try again or cancel. Pressing Try again just shows the same message, but if I switch the TV to the channel that the Wii U is displaying on, then click it, it will go ahead and boot into vWii.
