    Wiikey U update

Its been a while and we have been hard at work at the Wiikey U hardware. WiiU encrypts the data sent from the drive with AES-CBC-128. We have now fully integrated an AES core into the FPGA and it is operating at the same speed as the drive. We've had a setback with another component though, and we are now testing alternatives. Hopefully we will have another update in a few more weeks.

Any chance this could lead to a Softmod exploit being found? Some people are saying so....but some people are also pretty stupid lol.

I doubt a software-only decryption routine could allow for 1:1 operation with that kind of overhead (at least in terms of the approach of this particular hardware device).

You do know the word "source" in post #1 is a hyper-link, right? Before Wii-U there was the Wiikey 1 and 2 (hardware mods for the Wii).

WiiKey is a mod chip for Wii, the one this post is about is actually a new version for Wii U.

The irony is that whilst Nintendo is so uptight on locking down their system to avoid things like piracy, region lockouts, and homebrew... I literally refuse to buy a Wii-U until there is a hard-mod or soft-mod. Makes me wonder how many others share that view and are withholding potential unit sales for the same reason?

I hold the exact same view... I can't have a wii U without anyway to back up my discs... Had enough casualties due to scratches etc. not planning on getting the wii U till I can back up the games...
Also don't forget about all the fun you can have when you soft/hard mod a wii!
Never tried hard modding but that will likely have to change soon...
