Wii transfer to Wii U

If this is not the right place for this, mods please move it.

So we all know that you can transfer your WiiWare and Virtual Console titles to your Wii U, making them playable only on that Wii U. Does anyone know if you can make a nand backup of the Wii pre-transfer and just put everything back the way it was after transferring to the Wii U? I would like to be able to play them on the Wii U, but I don't want to take everything from my Wii since I'll still be using it unless it's possible to load Wii games from an HDD and use apps like WiiMC in Wii mode.

That raises another question... Can you transfer a modded wii's mem to a new wiiU?

It's still way to early to know. But rest assured, as soon as someone knows of a way, WiiHacks will get it posted up on the boards for it's members. :)

Does a NAND contain savegames and VC games? Or is that stored in another source of non-volatile memory? And does the Wii U Transfer do a copy or a move?

Then you could essentially back up your wii, move them to your wiiU then restore your wii. Have everything on both consoles.

Not possible if Wii has BootMii/IOS

I can't transfer with bootmii? I recall when you install boot mii as iOS you can also uninstall it?

I was talking about the "restore Wii after transfer part." Restoring the Wii, i.e. NAND restore is not possible with BootMii as IOS.

It's a bit like this: How could you restore your Hard Drive with an Image if the restore program was running off the Hard Drive?

This is not the case with BootMii/boot2.

So after you transfer everything, the Wii has to do like a system restore? I haven't even attempted to transfer anything yet, so I don't know how it works. I just wanted to see what the options are before potentially losing anything. It's not like I have much on my Wii anyway besides homebrew and game saves, but that can all be kept on the Wii if we're unable to transfer a modded IOS.
