Transferring data from Wii to Wii U - Brick?

I don't currently have a Wii U at this time, but would transferring save data from a homebrewed Wii to a Wii U have any chance of bricking it? I want to make absolutely sure before I do so.

I want to know this as well, I know that the transfer is one way which sucks...but on the other hand I can restore my Wii's NAND afterwards and get all my stuff back

My concern for the WiiU though is, as amazing as the system seems so far (I've only played demos...can't afford a 32gb WiiU and a 64gb iPhone 5 ), anyway...my concern is to see how it will fair a couple years from now when Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 come out. To me it's all about the games and the graphics come 2nd, but other people will most definitely trash WiiU for being "a step behind" just like they did with Wii claiming it was little more than Nintendo's version of a PS2 with a few minor enhancements.

What? You can't afford both the 32 GB Wii U AND a 64 GB iPhone 5? Well, now we all know where your priorities lie....

Personally for me, I don't care what people say once the new XBox and PS's are launched. My days of console wars were the Super Nintendo vs Sega Genesis.... these days, I'm getting too old for those sort of investments whether they be financial or temporal based. I purchased a Wii knowing that they were "inferior" to the competition because I'm interested in more than the superficial shiny. There's always going to be a reason for one person to trash either system in lieu of another. I planted my flag upon Nintendo and there I will stand. Microsoft can go to hell with their fancy systems and their "we're going to charge you for everything" mentality....

Give me an XBox that'll boot Ubuntu and then we'll talk! Haha!

    Nope, can't get both...I'm poor

I have nothing against PS and XB, both are good systems in their own rights (Alan Wake for 360 is one of the best games I've played in recent years) but my main point for buying my Wii, long before getting my Xbox, was the Virtual Console. Being able to get all those old classics I grew up on was just too much to pass up. The only thing about VC that disappointed me is the lack of N64 titles, there are some but mainly it's missing GOLDENEYE! How can they not put Goldeneye on the Shop Channel?! Aside from that I would be happy if they added Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and maybe Donkey Kong 64 (never played that one...always wanted too)...and as I type this I realize Banjo Kazooie is missing too! See how many greats they skipped? Lol
So yeah, I have a 360 but Wii is always gonna be my favorite from this gen...maybe I'm just a Nintendo fanboy (I don't consider myself a "fanboy") but that's just how I feel, Wii (in terms of games, accessibility & innovation) > 360 & PS3
