I'm interested to know if anyone with a softmodded Wii successfully transferred their (legal) purchases to the Wii U.
Same here, I want to know if the cIOSs and custom channels I have installed might cause a problem....I also look forward to eagerness to WiiU being hackedOriginally Posted by goldenegg

I don't see the point in starting a new thread just for this question, but does anybody know how Wii games will work on the WiiU? I know that it will be backwards compatible, except it won't be just put the Wii disc into the WiiU and play, you will have to open a Wii "app" within the WiiU and play your Wii games through there. My question is will the WiiU be able to play burned Wii games? Also, will you be able to play Wii games on the controller or will it only display on the TV? I know all these questions will be answered in time, but just curious anybody has any info, either by what they've read online or first hand experience.
I played with one today in the store and I have to say I'm impressed. I wasn't on the Wii bandwagon went it first came out and only really got into it after the homebrew community flourished. I hope the WiiU has the same level of success within the community.
Not enough is known about WiiU yet, my guess is no for burned games. I assume this based on the fact that new Wii's can't play burned games so it doesn't seem likely that WiiU will.Originally Posted by dishwater63
Next, the WiiU GamePad is for WiiU ONLY, when you enter Wii mode you basically turn the WiiU in to a Wii meaning no GamePad or any other feature that is new to WiiU. Perhaps one day via Homebrew this will be possible but as of now no, anything from original Wii used on WiiU will require your old WiiMote (can't say 100% for the WiiWare and VC but being that they were designed for Wii and its controller it's an educated assumption). So yeah, Wii played on the WiiU will only be on TV.
And I too and eagerly looking forward to WiiU's Homebrew scene growing, I cannot wait to see how well emulation for N64 and PSX (hopefully 2 as well...won't hold my breath though) will run, on Wii right now they are decent at best. A work in progress but relatively low on compatibility sadly.
Haha! How many people have one? Is the availability high? I didn't get my chance to pre-order one since I had to spend the money that I had saved up (being an adult sucks sometimes) but I DO have one waiting for me at Gamestop, should I be able to scrounge up $400.00 within the next 36 hours. I would have high chances of getting one financially closer to Christmas, but my concern is the availability of the console by then. I want it for a Christmas present for the family, so if I DO get it, I can't open it.....
..but you know I'll be hooking it up at least one late night before Christmas, just to "verify" that it works.... lol!
