I'm not entirely sure, but NSMB U might. I haven't had a chance to play any games thogh, so I don't know.

EDIT: Now my Turtle Beach Z6A headset just snapped. I don't know what's going on but I think it's my brain next.

Actually, I think the connection dropped during the update. The only reason I had it removed from the box was to update it before Christmas, anyway. XD Fun surprise, right?
That sucks, try to get it back to nintendo for a fix. Hopefully you'll get it b4 Xmas

Sent it out today. Let's hope they send it back with the Wii U version of the Wii Backup Disc in the drive by mistake!

But really, I'd just be happy to have it back and am hoping that they'll have the system menu updated.

Got the Wii U back from repairs and just finished updating it and setting up a few things. It's actually pretty cool so far. I like the browser, which is what I'm using to compose this post. Kind of sucks how they've decided against flash support. The browser feels quite stable and the large screen almost makes it more desirable than my Android device.

I'm also hoping to see someone code some type of software to get this gamepad to interface with a PC. There'd be quite a bit of potential there and thinking of using it for art related projects is an exciting thought. Has anyone been working at that?

Great to hear. So you had to re-update it when you got it back again?

I'm keeping a watch on this thread, with all the Christmas money I got I have enough to pick up my Deluxe WiiU any time I want!

The question is how bad do I want it? I've been on the fence about getting the WiiU mainly cause I have limited space on my entertainment shelf (have to share it with my brother, even when he's away at college...and I bought the damn thing!) but another reason is right now I only see 3 games that have peaked my interest and I easily end up saying "meh" mainly cause they're not exactly new.

New Super Mario Bros. U? I have NSMB Wii and as good as it is NSMBU looks like it's pretty much just an HD remake.

Batman Arkham City? I have the Collector's Edition for 360 and even though I loved hell out of it and would strongly consider buying it again, is it really worth paying $60 to play it again on the WiiU tablet?

Ninja Gaiden 3? I know very little about this game but it looks like a awesome hack and slash style game...my only gripe is those kinda of games usually get old quick.

So someone help persuade me, make me want to buy my WiiU by New Years Day

P.S. I'm still concerned about what was said earlier in this thread about the big day 1 update causing bricks.

Assassin's Creed 3. Also, even if it were bricked, you would be under warranty, so no problem I guess.

Oh yes, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

Is there anyway around the wifi update, like maybe a game had an update partition?

Don't forget CoD2 (for those non-XBox folks) and Dragon Warrior 10 (which, albeit, is slated for release on the Wii U AND the Wii, so that's a moot point I guess). I'm also waiting for Zelda, Metroid, and Kid Icarus games to be released. I just hope they deviate from the same 'ole "Soap Opera and Puzzles" cliche that started with the N64, 'cause I love Metroid but Other M was just a flop IMHO. As far as the day 1 update goes, you can download it in the background, and then apply the update once it's been completely downloaded. That way, you're not at least at the mercy of your ISP or a flaky Wifi signal.

That, however, isn't always foolproof. My 5 year old son *almost* bricked the console this weekend. I was letting him play NSMBU and left the room. I was in the bedroom getting ready to do something grown-up and important (shovel snow, I think) when I looked out and saw a progress bar on the screen. Time to go investigate. By the time I got out there, his finger was on the power button.... [slow motion]"NOOOO......."[/slowmo]. Luckily, the disaster was averted. I still, for the life of me, have NO clue how he initiated the upload, since he was using a standard Wii remote.... not quite a kid-proof console.

On the topic of Mario Bros.... I wouldn't consider it a complete remake. Yes, it does use the same assets (graphics, sounds) and the same levels, in the same order (you can expect the desert to be World 2), and the same Star Coin concept, however, it does implement different power-ups, different bad guys, and different levels. All in all, if you're a Mario fan, I would highly recommend it.
