Thereby completely voiding any warranty. So yes, I would expect Nintendo will be making the Wii U just as hard to modify this time around. I'll bet it won't be as simple as a software USB loader.

Is there a thread or forum where the hackers are gathering?
I have coding experience and have been hacking consoles for years, from jtagging 360's, modding ps3's, soft modding wii's. Even if a usbloader was developed I'm guessing the first step would be to get the wii u to run unsigned code. Otherwise the security would stop it from launching. I have a wii u preordered and would love to throw my hat into that arena.

So this should mean we can gladly buy the cheeper 8gb instead of the 32gb with no issues as long as you have an external HDD?

The basic one is a waste, after the system menu is accounted for you only get 4.2gb, not the full 8....

I knoe, but now if all versions can connect a 3tb drive, why pay the ekstra cash for that "small" increase from 8 to 32?

It depends on how the HDD support is integrated with the system menu (IMO anyway). If plugging say a 3tb HDD would add extra slots to the main menu to show your games on both HDD and system NAND then yeah, the deluxe memory is probably not that important. But if it just does like the current Wii does with SD where it adds a second seperate menu you have to open to see your extra games and channels then I'd rather have the deluxe which can display more in one place.

Maybe that's just me...to each their own, but I digress. My point was that your paying, what? $300 for a 8gb system? But you'll only be able to use half of it, whereas with the 32gb system, which is only $50 more, you'll have 29gb to play with, also expandable with SD/USB and you get Nintendo Land included in the box along with some other goodies.

By the looks of things, the system will currently only accept a 2TB HD max. After an updated planned for December, larger hard drives will be accepted, but only the first 2TB will be used, with the rest of the space essentially wasted.

Saw that. To bad its a small disc, but its great that its opening for playing from a HDD. Then it might be easier to mod it. Need a program similare to the xbox tool to access the disc on a computer doh.
The bad thing I heard is that when you first start the U it needs to download a 6GB update... And that might take between 1-4 hours before you can even start playing. Thats no fun!!! So if you have children, it might be smart to upgrade this before putting it under the tree at christmas...

Found this laying around, maybe fun to someone: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=500411
