    Wii U vWii homebrew questions

So I got Devolution to run Twilight princess, but I cannot figure out how to pair my wii u pro controller so I can use that.

Also, my Wii u does not want to read my usb hard drive that I was going to use. (My original wii reads it just fine formatted to fat32)

Any suggestions for either of these problems?

    Thanks

Let's start with the HDD not being read. Is it self powered or does it get power via an AC adapter?

Edit: To use a Wii U Pro Controller Pro Controller, load Devolution. When the game starts playing sync your controller the same way you do a WiiMote (press the sync button on the system and controller). You should see the lights on the controller blink periodically. Press the Home button to make the controller active. You'll know the controller is active if the light stays lit (and of course if you can control the game).

Our guide for vWii and external USB devices clearly states said device must be externally powered. The Wii-U's USB ports do not supply enough power to run such an external device.

The Wii U Pro Controller? No, as long as it's charged enough to be able to turn on you don't have to plug it in to sync it. As for the HDD, like Nightstah said, self powered (USB powered) drives don't work on Wii U. You could try a Y cable but that's no guarantee.

Nope, just load a game with Devolution. When the game starts playing press the sync buttons on the system and controller. Once the light on the controller starts steadily blinking (rather than rapid flickering) press the home button. The controller will be synced and active.
