I know full well that we don't recommend SDHC for modding a system as they tend to be hit or miss (most of the time miss) but what I need to know is could I use a SDHC card AFTER modding? I can't seem to find any more standard 2gb SD cards, just SDHC. So what I was think was to use the standard SD I have for my old Wii just to mod the Wii U (at which point that 2gb card would go back to the old Wii), then use a 4gb SDHC for the Wii U thereafter...if that would work.

I used a 32gig card to do the Wii -> Wii U transfer, so for your normal SD card use on a Wii U, cards at up to 32gig should work fine. I can't speak to any cards larger than that.

So Homebrew should be compatible with say a 4gb or 8gb SDHC card?

I've not modded my Wii U to know for sure, but I would think it would work the same as the Wii's homebrew.

EDIT: I would still think that the HBC install should be done with a 2gig card at most, after that, higher capacity cards should be fine. (just like the wii)

Thanks, now that Devolution works on Wii U (correction, allows you to use the Wii U Pro Con or PS3 controller) I've been giving much more thought to hacking my vWii on my Wii U. So I want to take in all the knowledge I can beforehand and make the preparations now.

Edit: only reason I've been so hesitant to do it it I've been watching how the updates to the Wii U effect it, so far they don't which is a good sign. Not to say they can't or won't but still. Now that Wii U is capable of doing everything my old Wii does, hacking it is even more temping and beneficial to me.

Yes it should be. 4.0+ (for the Wii) installed the drivers for SDHC cards iirc. The hackmii installer afaik is the only thing that is picky when it comes to that stuff. Everything else should run fine from sdhc cards. Put it this way, I have not heard of a problem arising from the use of an sdhc card AFTER the initial installation of the HBC.

Thanks very much, then I'll probably use my old 2gb to hack and buy a new SDHC for after the hack. I'm surprised/glad Nintendo hasn't put an end to modding the vWii yet...here's hoping they never do (at least not via a software update)
