How is the progress of hacking the WII U(for games and mediaplaying etc) any news?

So we are all curious how the situation is. Iv currently hooked my new wii u and did not swant to update just yet to be sure. As long as it plays games Il hold out.
I wish there was a way similare with tiny umbrella software for apple that saves the system(blobs) so you could easily downgrade the wii to the system version you needed

Anyway, post all new developmenst, it wil be great to hear.

In the meantime il take a look at this baby: Nintendo Wii U GamePad Gets 10 Hour Battery Boost Via Nyko's "UBoost" - Forbes

I have moved your thread to a more appropriate section (not really news/rumor-related, right)? To answer your question, look here.

And your "news" story is a day late and a dollar short --- witness this, which amazingly was in the same section you initially posted this in.

I would sure go for one of those battery's for the game pad and even a docking station when they are out.

I was going to make a thread about hacking the Wii U but I will just post it here instead reasons below and because the title of this thread is closer to the nature of which I wanted to talk about.

How come the Wii section has many more discussion topics than the Wii U section I wanted to talk about what the downsides to hacking a Wii U might entail now that it supports direct game downloads and game updates as well as the fact that the Wii U will likely have more updates closer to what the PS3 tends to get because of some facts such as that it supports third party applications and digital downloads as well as being a relatively young next gen console which is has not had its run of updates like the current Wii and other consoles have. Though I have no idea where to talk about anything for the Wii U as the Wii U Newbie Discussion thread is the only discussion thread, there are no other sections for off-topic discussion or to to focus on vWii hacking or to just talk about the Wii U in general at least none that I can find in the section designated for the Wii U.

So what is the news currently about how progress is going, I know about progress of vWii but what about the Wii U mode.

P.S sorry if this is counted as hijacking the thread or it is a dumb question but I really couldn't decide if I should be making non newbie topics in the Wii U discussion section and I was not sure who to approach to ask such things. The Wii Section has heaps of child threads for talking about all kinds of stuff so if nobody minds me asking where are the like named sections for the Wii U or where am I allowed to discuss such topics.

We can only be certain about one thing: there is nothing public. The hacking process has always been closed pretty tightly and will continue to be so (most likely to keep N from finding out anything), so we won't know anything until it's "done." When that will be is anyone's guess. They may release it this afternoon or not for another year.

If I was guessing, I would say that it's been hacked, but said hack won't be released until a reliable way is found to block updates. Only time will tell.

Fair enough, We really would need to block updates and have a system available for extracting safe content and installing just the safe stuff that improve the console while throwing away the anti hacking stuff, actually if we are very lucky it might be worth while strip the anti hacking stuff from the updates and have a safe update usable by hacked consoles to install, I am not sure how one would do this or if it would even be possible but this is my only real concern with the Wii U being so new and all updates are surely going to improve the system and add functionality in future as well a when games update for DLC and so on how would that effect the soft mod I mean if it is as dangerous as the last console then we would need some way to remove the soft mod quickly such as a uninstaller of some kind so that we could upgrade if needed.

Hmm much to think about at this point I don't know if I even want to soft mod the Wii U mode until it matures more. I soft modded the Wii late in its cycle when updates were only coming out to try and stop hacking but had no useful features in them.
