One thing you could consider is getting a USB Hub. That way you could have your cords in a place that is easily accessible vs having to reach behind the console every time.

Great news, but how does updating individual games, I gather updating the OS is out the question but the Games?

    OOPS
Thought this was finally the long awaited WiiU mode hack, Vwii hacking is pointless for me until it doesn't require a game disc. That to me just defeats the purpose of hacking it. That and with out priiloader or some other anti brick hacking it really is not much fun.

Well, Im not sure what the purpose would be for you (unless you have no game discs, in which case the purpose is clear), but for most of us the whole reason for hacking it is to be able to play our legally backed up Wii games from an external USB HDD, same as we did on the Wii. Syncing Wiimotes back and forth is a pita, and I personally had way to much stuff in my entertainment center, so I was able to move my old Wii to a different room in the house.

You can probably use a cable extension and a wall wart (or chop off the ends and solder them together). But I don't know if you'll get enough power from the WiiU even if you utilize both ports.

I have heard of this working for some and not for others. I had the same problem with my WD 320GB drive. The Y cable did not supply enough power, so my solution was to use the Y and plug the power end into a usb cell phone charger (5v 1A is the standard power requirement for those style drives). That finally got it to work. Either way you do it, it is definitely a less expensive alternative than buying a whole new drive.

I used to rip games and make modified copy's with hacked content like SMBWii courses I also used it for VNC and other homebrew things, The reason its pointless for me is because I don't own any of the games required to use this method of mod, why because I just never wanted them. I got the Wii purely for its unique games that are not available on other consoles I basically originally got it for Mario and the Mario Galaxy and Wii Fit.

I know the rules here about the subject that shall not be named so I don't intend to attempt to explain my reasons for doing such if ever did such a thing. Sure enough I have about 10 games on disc for Wii but none of them are used for the method of modding out so far. Is it wrong to I just think inserting a disc to do something basic like load homebrew or launch something else from usb is just a gigantic wast of time. It does defeat the purpose of hacking a console. Even If I had one of the games required I would not use this method I would wait until hacking Wii U matures a bit more just because I don't want to muck around with undoing and removing this and that to update or install the NEXT BEST method of hacks.

I am primarily a PC gamer and I don't usually buy for console because PC will always play it better sure you gotta contend with the PC issues but that's not a problem for me because I am an IT person.

I much rather to do that and play the title at perfect 60fps or above all the way throughout then get a title that has visuals that exceed the capability of the console to backup my claim here I brought Assassins Creed 3 because I usually play it with a USB xbox controller on PC anyway and I figured it would be a good test to see what the Wii U would actually handle like, Personally I think Assassins Creed 3 is the worst game of the series but that said I wish I got it on PC instead it plays alright but I have not even unlocked the main character Connor yet and the game as already dipped down into what I swear was 10 frames per second for about 3s it happend during the horse chase right before you get thrown out of the animus for the first time back into to play as Desmond so far this is the only game it has done such shocking fps drops with but I excepted it would just like I expect Nintendo made games like the next Zelda and Mario will run great all the way through with zero stutter.

Back to the point here I only have a Nintendo because only Nintendo produce Mario and Zelda and odd spins on games that come from other systems. I don't have twilight its not mine I borrowed a lot of those titles as am not a ZELDA fan and I was not really keen on smash brothers either I rather play Mario and Mario Galaxy. Not everybody is a bad person just remember that.

Great progress so far guys but I am sticking to my story and giving it a miss this time around more because I just rather wait until something more concrete is around I never had to do this with my WII and I am not going to use the primitive fist out of the oven hacks for my new Wii U either.

You do realize the game needed for the exploit is just for the purposes of softmodding it, right? As in once done, not needed (whether to launch or whatever you're rambling on about)... you make it sound compulsory in that whatever you'd intend after softmodding, that there's an expectation of inserting a disc to accomplish something (that was already done).

I think maybe you are missing something there, or maybe your post confused me, either way I will try to explain.
inserting a disc to do something basic like load homebrew or launch something else from usb is just a gigantic wast of time.
You only need the disc once, and that is to install the HBC. After that you never need it again. So if you are thinking that you have to put the disc in every time, you are mistaken. Once the HBC is there, its there for good unless you delete it, just like the regular Wii.

EDIT: So I see you saw the same thing as me nightstah. Thats what I get for walking away for a min LOL
