Followed the guide last night - all now working great so many thanks. Me and my boy were able to play black ops 2 on the WII-U then I left him to stream some cartoons off the NAS using WII-MC whilst I did the boring housework(which is the main reason why I wanted to softmod our WII-U). On a slightly seperate note does anyone know if there is a way to stream (SMB or FTP maybe) video/music content using the WII-U mode please? Is it DLNA compatible as I couldnt see any options for this.

No it is not DLNA compatible, unfortunately... Im sure at some point when the Wii U itself is hacked streaming will be possible, but not at current moment.

    This guide works perfectly!

As for the USB HDD issue wanting to format in Wii-U mode, has anyone considered partitioning the drive for the Wii-U and then making a FAT32 or WBFS on a 2nd partition? Wondered if that would work or if the Wii-U would still see the other partition and always want to format it? Just a thought. Maybe it has been addressed and I missed it...

Yes. The black one just has more internal storage than the white one.

From what I understand, the Wii U deletes all existing partitions first and then creates its own single partition. I have not tested this though, because I dont feel like having to rerip all of my games again if it indeed does operate in that manor...

I have an external drive already connected for the Wii U. Can I plug in a second hard drive for this and have it work in vWii while the original will still work for the Wii U or will I have to unplug the one I am not using?

    Thanks.

Thats a good question. I dont have two external drives otherwise I would test it out. My guess would be that you would have to unplug the one you arent using, but honestly I have no clue. Why dont you try it and tell us?

I'll see if I can give it a whirl this weekend. My daughter likes to play some of the Wii games as well as Wii U and she can't reach (nor do I want her to) the system to be unplugging and plugging in cables.

Definitely want to try this so I can finally disconnect the Wii.
