unless the new update updates part of the vWii, those 2 are separate and the update usually only applies to the wiiu side. might wanna check nintendo's site and see what the patch notes say.

thank you so much for putting together such a great guide!!! everything installed fine, but i have issues with running the "CFG MOD r15" loader. The other two work fine. the CFG gives the following message "ERROR: Custom IOS 248 could not be loaded? (ret = -4100)" Has anyone else gotten this? Thank you so much for the help! Also has anyone been able to get ocarina codes working. I was trying it with Xenoblade and they weren't working.

Sounds like you may have an old junk cfg file messing that up. Check the sd/usbloader folder and delete its entire contents.

got ocarina working too, now for some reason i can't get the themes to work properly, they download and all, but they won't appear when i set it in the settings menu, it's a minor issue, but still curious why it does not work

    thank you again cjizzle

I finally took the plunge since my warranty is up. Great guide, easy to follow.

Return of the Jodi definitely wouldn't work until I got the correct type of SD card.

So far my 80 GB USB powered hard drive is working with a Y cable plugged in to both USB ports on the back. Unfortunately I had most of my games on a 2 TB Seagate drive I use for general purposes and the dog knocked the power cabel and tipped that drive over during the transfer and now my 2 TB isn't working anymore and it has all my pictures and music that I haven't backed up elsewhere because my drive is pretty new and I thought it was safe. Anyone know anything about recovering Seagate hard drives that stop functioning? (i hear a faint low beeping sound when I hook it up)

Also I found the Ustealth app to be pretty awesome as it hides the drive from the Wii U in Wii U mode so you don't get a format prompt and you don't have to worry about leaving it plugged in and accidentally formatting it. I had to grab newer versions of the USB loaders to get it to work but it seems like a good solution so far. Now I can maybe get through Xenoblade chronicles now that an OFF TV option is available for me to play it.

One other thing, the guide doesn't mention anything about turning off automatic updates. Is this even possible to do on the Wii U and is it something that is recommended? I guess I can look through the system settings to see if I can turn off updates but I would appreciate some instructions if someone knows how.

You can turn off automatic downloads and standby functions. I may be wrong but I think doing those would prevent auto-update. I know I have them off and my Wii U never updates by itself.

If I spelled something wrong, I'll just blame it on auto-correct

I think that the smash bros download file is not working.. I got it working by downloading smash hack and the hackmii installer separately... Either way, thanks so much.
