    @rikiboy:

    Don't believe so for the Wii-U; you can do so for the regular Wii, however (relies on Priiloader, which doesn't exist for the Wii-U or vWii as applicable in this case).

    So I just discovered that Wii U's registered on Club Nintendo DON'T get a warranty extension like most other Nintendo systems do. This means my warranty is now officially expired and any repairs (God willing I won't ever need it repaired) would cost me.

    I think it's time to softmod this thing now. Nothing to lose anymore...accept for if Nintendo decides to start banning homebrewed systems from their online service or deleting my purchased content because I "violated the ToS agreement".

    You are supposed to be on 4.3 in the vwii. Not sure what you perceive the problem to be...

    I'm not even sure what the "4.3 screen" is...is it a screen stuck in 4:3 aspect ratio? A screen telling you the menu version is 4.3? Describe a little more what you're seeing and how it's stuck.

    If I spelled something wrong, I'll just blame it on auto-correct

    After the update...I am stuck with a small screen...I am guessing 4.3 ratio...When before the update the screen was fine...16.9..?................Sorry when I say STUCK...what I mean is the vwii loads on a small screen now...How do I get it back to wide screen?

    Ratios are two numbers separates by a colon to show relationship between them. Not a decimal.

    16:9 or 4:3.

    I heard that an updated version of HBC is supposed to allow 16:9 again, but since I don't really follow the Wii U modding scene very close, I could be mistaken as to which app controls that.

    Someone else may chime in to correct or agree with me.

    Right at the beginning of the guide is a link to an app created by Tuedj that will set Homebrew back to 16:9 widescreen. It's not a permanent fix, you'll need to use it every time you launch the HBC but it's better than nothing.

    We all are anxiously awaiting a HBC update which may never come. As far as I've seen the people behind the HBC have made no statements about this issue, hence the workaround created by Tuedj.

    Edit: To anyone who's got experience with hacking the Wii U's vWii; aside from the unknown aspect of what Nintendo may or may not do about softmodded vWiis, is there anything I should know before doing mine? My warranty is now expired and there's very little holding me back from this now. So I just want to know if there are any precautionary tips or any sort of recommendation really.

    Thanks

    J/k snes. I can't think of anything other than what is in that post though. Hacked mine almost a year ago and have had no problems aside from the HDD formatting bit I explained there.
