You are correct in that it is unknown what will happen. A brick though? I highly doubt it for the following reason:
    - This guide does not change any original IOS or the system menu. It only adds cIOS. Since none of the original software was messed with and still exists on the console even after this mod, my method of thinking says that nothing bad would come of it. To me, the worst that can happen is some stubs being put in place to delete existing cIOS, in which case we just go back and put them on again...

My guess is that it would only brick if Nintendo decided to detect if any unofficial stuff was installed and brick it on purpose. I haven't read their EULA yet though, so I'm not sure if they can legally do that.

I thought the softmod replaced some official cIOS, but knowing that they dont, this is no longer a hard choice to make.

    Thank you!

A softmod does not REPLACE ORIGINAL cIOS's, cIOS's are custom made IOS's and are numbered over 200, original IOS's numbers are lower then this. When you do a softmod you are only adding cIOS's numbered above 200 to allow loaders, unofficial channels and other stuff to be added to your system and be usable.

There is no such thing as an "orignal cIOS." A cIOS is a custom IOS. But you're correct, none of the official IOS's are touched by this guide. Just thought I clear that up a bit.

Well, not to be rude, but that is not entirely correct. This softmod does not replace any original IOS. That doesnt speak for every other softmod, including our Softmod ANY Wii guide. Many original IOS are overwritten in that guide by cIOS, namely 16, 30, 36, 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80. It doesnt really matter what number they are, they can still be cIOS (custom IOS). cIOS in the 200 range are safe to delete/install because they are not required by or native to the system. Generally speaking, most all IOS/cIOS under 200 are needed by the system. Since we are trying to be as safe as possible here in this guide, we have not messed with any IOS under 200. They are all stock, untouched IOS.

Hope that explanation clears things up a bit
