    CES: Wii TV Channel

Nintendo looks set to take on the broadcasters with the announcement of a new television channel to be accessed via the console and the internet.

Wiinoma, which sounds rather like an unpleasant medical condition, will feature content made exclusively for Nintendo, and will include cartoons, cookery programmes, brain-training quizzes and lifestyle shows. Think of it as a bit like ITV daytime.

The channel will launch in Japan this spring, with an expansion to the rest of the world due before the end of the year. With over 40 million homes with a Wii, Nintendo could be sitting on a goldmine if they get the service right

Not bad at all! Sounds like Nintendo is taking a complete 180 on the idea of the Wii being more than just a gaming machine. Due to the high in-home installation base, it's only logical that they take this next step. It's about time.

I'm just listing notes from CES, so if it's been mentioned before, oh well.
