I still don't understand the craze of watching movies on your wii when most homes nowadays have perfectly capable dvd players that won't wear out the laser in your wii

I've always noticed that as the price comes down, you seem to be buying a new item every year or 2 lol, Its not like the old days like Rank Arena Tvs or AWA hahaha.....

The reason the Nintendo never brought the DVD player to Wii is I think it's due to copyright Im not 100% on this......
i kinda assumed it was simply
its not like we all another dvd playing device, why pay for the extra.

the wii is for casual gamers, and a casual person, USUALLY has a dvd player, and has a tv. why pay millions to make 1 of those things used less xD

i wonder if anyone could help me? im a right noob when it come to the wii!, im using system update 3.4, and i've got the Homebrew channel loaded...but whenever i try to put dvdx on it just wont work. Ive downloaded a few different versions which say they are for update 3.4, (with the 3 different options after its loaded). The first one is fine...the PatchMii i THINK has worked, and whenever i try the third option, to install DVDX, it initializes the network...then some waiting then the screen goes black quickly. From what i can see it says "file failed" but its hard to be sure because the screen goes black so quickly...any help on this would be brilliant...im tearing my hair out!

OK somehow its working lol. I was getting my hair off and just turned the console off...turned it on a few hours later and put a dvd in and it played. The only problem i have now, is when i put a game in (Which i have just bought) it tells me i need to update to play it...and im wondering whether i should or not?
