Wow, that thing looks crazy.
this is a real breakthrough, it essentially will stream .iso files from a pc via usb. you dont even need the wii drive to use it. press release and links below.
"We are proud to announce our new wii device named "FLATMII" and introducing a new concept of the wii use.Flatmii doesnt require any kind of soldering, clip or software modification for installing . No modchip is required, flatmii is a simple
Plug and Play device and the installation only needs a few easy steps .
Share any wii supported format from your PC using Highspeed 2.0 USB protocol . Play or emulate anyone of your stored Wii/Gamecube image discs . Forget about problems like newest drive chipsets including EPOXY or D3 ,Dre's or long and noisy disc loadings
You can even use your Wii without a Wii DVD drive or with a faulty or damaged because it's not required
for the FLATMII use"

and i am not too keen on sacrificing my laptop while i play my wii, but a second hand one with a big external hard drive would be sick. no more burning dvd's IS the future i believe.
Just as long as you keep another HDD as a backup, it's a nifty idea.
I have no idea how the wiring works either. I see that chip intercepted the drive cable ... then I saw someone weave some thin wire out of the back. I hope it's more strudy than that though.

mmmm it will be interesting to see how user friendly people find it.
i am the sort of person who would love that if my wii wasnt modded already
3.5 will block this =P
Hmmmm...I'd wait. What about having a USB Hard Drive full of ISOs and just playing them from that? Although it still looks like a chip is installed.
don't you mean 3.4 v2?Originally Posted by admiral victorinox [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]

on a more serious note, this tool, sounded good, but when i read into more details, i have to say, i wouldn't like it AT ALL
since i got a 70 gb hard drive, i fail to see why i would want to constantly move games on and off it, true it might save people on discs, but its less convient, upon seeing i 100% need my laptop, that doesnt help me at all, and in the end i got to keep a archive of everything...
in the end this is more of a good idea, and a step foward, outside of a overly cheap price will i see it selling well if at all
Many people are saying this is a fake due to the no sound video and the in between when he loads the ISO and the Display of the game loading. Although if we were to open the Wii why not just install a solderless modchip. It would be great to have an ISO loader via external usb just like the psp is able to load and stream games from an external storage device.
