However there has never been any talk of providing an update for the D2C2 wii's for the D2CKEY or the clone(d2cpro) as it is a discontinued item

Ok, so I am a noob to the wii... I have done xbox, 360, and psp. My question is this. I should go with the D2Pro9 for my LU342 console? I havent been able to take it apart yet for I have no tri-wing drive. But I have read that it all depends on the lettering under the d2c writing. I bought my wii from a US game store at the beginning of the month. Has anyone else tested on a LU342 yet?

some of the lu342's work...some don't....u r right around the change over range..

along with the 2nd row of characters... you have to check the print on the board...

there's a sticky on it... in modchips section

and Yes D2pro9....it the way to go

OK..I've got a good question for you ModderMan. The 9 wire SPI upgrade. Can this upgrade be retrofitted to the v4 wii clip? From what I see on the chip, I don't see why not. But, the one question that makes me scratch my head is, does any of the pinout's on the upgrade go to the drive or can they stay on the modchip?

Reason I ask, I hate to buy another soldering iron. The Wii-Clip was a very clever idea! I don't want to wait for a v6 or 7 for the new d2pro and have to buy another chip!

from wasabi.net.cn

26th of May 2008

Say hello to the brand new Wasabi!

No revolution here, but while other teams were busy trying to duplicate our 9 wire solution, we spent countless hours testing and improving the electrical design of our chip. This is to avoid the need of installation tweaks with rare "noisy" drives... and we're very proud of the result! We can safely say that we have created the most robust 9 wires chip on the market. Of course this new revision is 100% upgrade, pinout and feature compatible with the previous one.

The only other bonus is that it is fully compatible with the new D2C2 drive chipset (a.k.a. "Unmoddable D2C", that is common in Korea and started to appear in other countries in May 2008. That means that even if you bought your Wii in May 2008 or later on, you know for sure that our chip will be compatible with it. And we even added some D2C/D2C2 auto-detection mechanism to make installer's life easier.

Soon to be released, stay tuned!
