Nintendo has released firmware version 4.0, and it supports sd channel loading and has sdhc (up to 38gb) compatability. It has been confirmed that the homebrew channel works on this, but installed WADs do not.
This looks brilliant. Or not. Is it? Im a little confused, so if we update we cannot do anything, but if we instaled hombrew chan, and wad manager etc.. we can update and run hacked wads from the sd card?
Or is it better to just continue without updating and stick to usual methods to install vc through wad manager etc..?
I will look further around this, this was just a first reaction when i read your link. It looks potentially great news, but it would be nicer if we could use sd cards larger than 2gb (but less than 38gb). Still nintendo at least followed up their promise to sort storage out.
and i dont know if you can use hacked wads on the sd. some people say yes, some say no. But if you havent already twilight hacked your wii, you cant twilight hack until someone figures out the new firmware.
So if you already have Twilight Hack installed on a 3.4u Wii you can instal 4.0u and it won't remove homebrew? I've been anxious to use my 16gb SDHC card with my Wii and just install ALL my Wiiware that I play... (I'm totally hooked on World of Goo and Pirates KOD.) I've just been copying and deleting when I want to switch games around.
