i got my wii replaced
just take out the mod chip and send it to them (they just throw it out)(nintend profit up 25%) they send you a one and you can modd it or get a new chip
or pay them to fix it ------you get the same wii but its fixed
(note this is not garunteed to work do at your own risk)

I got those problems with my Wii a month after the pruchase. Nintendo changed it and gave my a brand new Wii for free. Then, this new one got the same problems 6 months later. Nintendo changed it and gave me a refurb Wii.
Now, my third Wii is working like a charm but I do not let the Wiiconnect24 on...

Is there usually no knowledge to nintendo that you've taken a chip out?? I mean... I suppose with a clip it's not too hard, and if you're really good with a soldering iron to unsolder things out if you get me, meh, I suppose I'll just worry about it if it happens... I've just recently bought a powerwave accessory that is like a docking station, charges two controllers, it's got blue led's on the side and an extraction fan on the bottom right where the holes are for the fan in the wii... anyone know if this does a good job with things?
I mean, I've made sure mines always got red light now when i turn off, and I use the fan all the time when the machines on now (play for long hours at a time atm, addicted with my girlfriend to a lot of games!! lol) so i'm hoping i'll be good, you reckon so??

Yeah I found this one out by myself I went to pick up my wii to put it away when I was going to a friends house and I was suprised at how hot it was , and I thought it might of been it was to close to the TV and dvd player and the fan wasen't working right. So I unnplugged it and it felt normal and then I did realize stand by mode is heating it up more then gameplay sometimes does. Nintendo don't bring a new red ring of death onto the market please.

I was having this problem until I bought the gamestop fan stand. It cools down the wii and it glows blue!

Ninetndo just needs to make it so that when it is on standby it is doesn't pull so much electricity , I wonder how much that adds to your bill having it on standby for months and months. O.O Nintendo is stealing my Moneyz
