Mario Kart Wii sells 8.94M in 2008

Rounding out the top three, Take-Two and Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV, which launched for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 alongside Mario Kart Wii in late April, sold 7.29 million units globally.

Thats quite surprising, I still haven't even bought the game. Just finished torrenting it yesterday to try a backup copy before I buy it.
Speaking of MK someone tell me to stop being cheap and join the MK tourney before it's too late! When's the deadline for that anyway? I'm gonna get flamed for this but can someone point me to page with all the info/rules?
