It's true. My 83 year old mother had a mini stroke and had a fall three years ago. The results were that she used a walker where ever she went. Never fell again but was very tentative walking. She does walk 1.5 to 2 miles a day but with a walker.
Well, I got a Wii for Christmas and she's been playing WiiFit and Marble Saga three times a week with the balance board. After about 3 months... she no longer uses a walker. She is far more confident and is excited to workout on her Wii. She had tried physical therapy, accupucture and various medications. The Wii was the answer. It's worth it's weight in gold to our family.

This is a good story..... but it's also very annoying.
People don't get better from some injuries because upon injuring themselves, they become mostly sedentary. No joint or nervous system issue could EVER heal that way. The human body works in a use it or lose it capacity. In other words, the modern medical establishment is only just catching up on this idea. What we call rehab now was just living your normal life 200 years ago. The human body has adapted this survival mechanism so people wouldn't starve to death, this adaptation occurred probably about 20,000 years ago, which is how far back we can trace back man's modern incarnation.
I love the Wii, the games that are the most physical are by far some of the best. I am glad it can help people like it does. But I am also very annoyed by peoples inabilities to handle these things without making them fun or a game.
That is just one man's opinion.

Since when is Wii Fit a "computer game"? Those people need to get their facts straight.
The Wii is simply a computer, all games consoles are computers, they have a processor, ram, some kind of operating system/firmware.
A computer is a machine that manipulates data according to a set of instructions, this is what a desktop does, laptop, palmtop, DS, Wii, xBox, PS3 and every game console does.
It's called a computer game because it is a game... for a computer.
