Wasn't the PS3 like $600 when it came out?
[Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]Checking our inbox this morning, we were greeted by an email from Sony cautioning us that, unlike PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and Wii aren't good values for our gaming dollars. There was even a chart (above) attached to spell it out in black & white (& red).
The informercial-esque message -- titled "Keeping Entertainment Simple" -- made our day with colorful accusations, including one that the Xbox 360 "requires ... multiple upgrades and additional external devices, putting a burden on the wallet and adds clutter to the entertainment center." That clutter would be the Wireless Network Adapter, which snaps onto the back of the 360, we suppose. So cluttery!
There were even lighthearted jabs at Wii, like the "fact" that its "lack of enhanced features comes at the expense of a comprehensive entertainment solution."
Wow. The folks over at Sony are getting a bit delusional. With the PS3 tanking for the 3rd straight holiday season, things are getting a bit testy at the headquarters for sure.

Also the Wii has been a straight 250$ since the release date. Sony, is just losing it, with all their sale loses.
I remember when the PS3 came out. I was rare to even know a friend who had it.

Hell, it is still rare to find someone who actually owns it for gaming. Not just a cheap blue ray player, with some additonal side value lol.
Say hello to the dumbass who actually bought one near its release date too. Doooooh.Originally Posted by ChrisChown [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]
$599.99 = 60 GB, Emotion Chip, WiFi, 4 USB, card readers, full chrome bezel
$499.99 = 20 GB, Emotion Chip, no WiFi, 2 USB, no card readers, black bezel
Sigh.
The 60GB is the best model to-date, by far. : \

I wonder how much it would cost, to get Sony to admit their product fails.
at retail in 2006? the cost was close to $900 per unit.Originally Posted by ChrisChown [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]
Sony had to bring the cost of mfg down, so the first thing to go was the Emotion Chip, the special piece of hardware that drove PS2 playback.
