The ps2 playback, is also one of the only things the made people want a ps3. No backwards compatibility, hahahahaahahhahaah forget that. Sony killed itself, oh well.

It's Sony's passion and desire to dominate a specific, proprietary format which is killing them. While they were too busy fighting off HD-DVD for a next generation movie format, Nintendo & Microsoft were making games.

Now that BluRay has won, they're so far behind in what their system competes in, games.

The PS3 game library sucks soooo badly. Little Big Planet is terrific, but I cannot think of another "must have" exclusive title.

The thing is like what e39 said, Sony wants to grab that one thing and run. When they are trying that though, all the other companies are pushing ahead. If sony just went like they did with the Ps2, and play the game like everyone else they would still at least be up there.

The 60gig version does in fact have backward compatibility cause i have it. I have all 3 consoles in the house and they all have their uses. The xbox 360 being the worst in reliability, as we're on the 5th replacement. I finally had to be firm and request a new one since the new ones have the new chipset that's actually reliable.
You gotta love the PS3 for blu ray and a few of it's exclusive games. It is spendy, but I got mine for around ~$250 back when sam's had it on as a demo. It was broke, but sony fixed it for no charge so since they day I received it I've never had an issue. However at release, the PS3 was outrageous, but still worth it to people wanting blu-ray as any stand alone Blu-Ray player then was minimum $1000.
The Wii base package is ony $250, but really when you think about it, I believe it can be the most costly console on the market. Needing at least 1 more controller and nunchuck, then the must have Wii Fit and charging station, things add up. I'm not saying it's not worth it,cause I think the Wii rules, but no way will you get me to say the Wii is the cheapest console on the market.

I can't believe that Sony is calling Nintendo and Microsoft expensive. The Nintendo Wii is the cheapest out of the current generation of video games and the proof is in the charts. I guess Sony executives were partying too much and claiming that their system is cheap when in reality its expensive.

    Disgaea 3...
    X Edge........

I BOUGHT A PS3 FOR THOSE 2 GAMES AND ILL BUY WHAT EVER I WANT FOR WHAT EVER REASON I WANT! xD

the problem is the high cost to make, but ps3 made the right choice since Bluray was the only thing they could win.. -shrugs- not like i care

outside of shooters what does Xbox have?
outside of Silly Japanese games what does Nintendo wii have?

come on the "main" nintendo games are far from amazing, MKW isnt any real improvement, Galaxy was annoying, Brawl wasnt that fun after a while =\ so yeah... i dont see how you can say Sony is so bad without thinking of the other crap games other companies have

I've played a lot of PS3 my since friend has one. I love it.

The PS3's problem is its timing. It came too soon. Being ahead of its time and vastly superior makes it cost too much to manufacture in this decade.

I would have been happy with PS2 for another 4 years, especially if it would save me $200 on the price of PS3.
