I had this problem a while back when softmodding a wii, I took the chip out and the dvd drive worked. not all chips are compatible with softmod.

Before this post, I have never heard of any scenario where having a modchip in a Wii interefered in any way with a softmod. While you may have done something, or perceived that you did something, I have serious doubts that a properly-installed modchip being caused a softmod to fail.

It wasn't my wii I was modding it for someone else. The chip was installed correctly but it could of been out of date as it was the original wiikey for the DMS dvd drive.
